NID Andhra Pradesh, set up in September 2015, was the second NID. It runs a 4-year B.Des.: a one-year foundation, then three years in Industrial, Communication, or Textile & Apparel Design. Its new 50-acre campus at Amaravati has boys' and girls' hostels for up to 292 students. For 2027-28 the NID admissions portal lists it under '5.5-year Integrated M.Des. / 4-year B.Des.' but its subjects, seats and fees were not yet posted, so check nid.ac.in before choosing it. It shares the common DAT Prelims (apply by 30 November 2026; exam 20 December 2026).

Rankings
How to read rankings
- The course rank matters more than the overall rank. A college can be average overall and excellent for law.
- Each list measures different things. NIRF scores teaching, research, results after graduation, how inclusive a college is, and its reputation.
- Small gaps mean little. Ranks 12 and 18 are close; don't choose on a few places.
- Not ranked isn't bad. Colleges choose whether to take part, and new or small ones often don't.
