CBSE 2027 Date Sheet Is Out: Class 10 and 12 Board Exams From 16 February, Last Papers on 9 March and 9 April

In short: CBSE has published the full timetable for the 2027 board exams. Both Class 10 and Class 12 begin on Tuesday, 16 February 2027. Class 10 finishes on 9 March and Class 12 on 9 April. More than 46 lakh students are registered, so this affects almost every CBSE family with a child in Class 10 or 12.

What happened

On 6 November 2026 CBSE sent the date sheets to all its schools and put them on cbse.gov.in. The board says it is releasing them 101 days before the first paper, so that students, families and teachers can plan early.

A few points from the official notice:

• Every paper starts at 10:30 am. Most run for three hours; some skill and arts subjects are two hours.
• CBSE says it checked more than 40,000 subject combinations, so that no student has two of their subjects on the same day.
• It also says it kept gaps between subjects that are usually taken together, and tried to finish Class 12 papers before the major entrance exams.
• About 26.5 lakh students in Class 10 and 19.8 lakh in Class 12 have registered.

Class 12 science

Your main papers, in order

For students

Class 12 science: Physics comes first, on the opening day. After that the gaps are generous: ten days to Chemistry, ten days to Maths, and more than two weeks to Biology. Use the long gaps for full revision and past papers, not as a break.

JEE aspirants: JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is on 20–24 and 28 January, before the boards. Session 2 is on 2–7 April; by then your Physics, Chemistry and Maths papers are long over. Plan January for JEE, February and March for boards.

Class 10: Maths is the second day of the exams (17 February), so it needs to be ready early. Social Science on 8 March is the last big paper.

For parents

Travel and family plans: don't book anything before your child's last paper. For Class 12 commerce students that is usually 1 April (Business Studies); for many science and humanities students it falls in late March, though some electives run into April. Look at your child's own subjects.

Calm beats pressure: the timetable is spread over three to seven weeks. Help your child keep regular sleep and meals across that stretch; a long exam season is a marathon, not a sprint.

Practicals come first: practical exams and internal assessment happen before the theory papers (from 1 January for most schools; earlier for winter-bound schools). Those marks count too.

Check details: if any subject on your child's admit card later looks wrong, raise it with the school at once. The school deals with CBSE, not the family.
