NEET PG 2026 Round 2 dates are out: register by 14 November, lock choices by 15 November, result on 17 November

In short: The wait is over. On 7 November the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) posted the new Round 2 schedule for NEET PG 2026 all-India counselling. Registration is open now and closes on 14 November, choices must be locked by 15 November, and the final result comes on 17 November. If your child holds a Round 1 seat and wants to give it up without losing the deposit, the window closes on 9 November, just two days away.

What happened

On 4 November we reported that Round 2 had been pushed back because NMC approved new PG seats on 3 November, and that MCC would announce fresh dates from 7 November. MCC has now done that. Its notice dated 7 November says the Round 2 schedule has been changed because the new seats were added to the Round 2 seat list.

The key steps, as per MCC's notice (times are as per MCC's server):

  • Resigning a Round 1 seat without losing the security deposit: up to 6:00 pm on 9 November. Students who chose "freeze" must go to their college in person to resign. Students who chose "float" can resign online on the portal.
  • Registration for Round 2: from 1:00 pm on 7 November to 3:00 pm on 14 November. Edit or reset of registration is allowed till 1:00 pm on 14 November.
  • Payment: till 6:00 pm on 14 November.
  • Choice filling: from 1:00 pm on 10 November to 11:55 pm on 15 November.
  • Choice locking: from 4:00 pm on 14 November to 11:55 pm on 15 November.
  • Seat processing and provisional result: 16 November. Final result: 17 November.
  • Reporting at the allotted college: 18 to 24 November.

For students

Do you need to register again? MCC's information bulletin says:

  • If you registered for Round 1 and got no seat, you do not register again.
  • If you resigned from, or did not report to, your Round 1 seat, you also do not register again.
  • If you never registered in Round 1, you must register now and pay the full fee and deposit by 14 November.
  • Everyone taking part must fill and lock a fresh list of choices. Round 1 choices do not carry over.

What to do this week:

  1. Decide on your Round 1 seat by 9 November. If you plan to leave it, do it before 6 pm that day. MCC's news line on its website mentions 5 pm, so aim to finish well before 5 pm to be safe.
  2. Study the updated seat list before choice filling opens on 10 November. Look for new colleges and branches that were not offered in Round 1.
  3. List only seats you would actually join. From Round 2 onwards, a seat that is allotted but not joined costs you the security deposit.
  4. Lock your choices early on 14 or 15 November. Don't wait for the last hour of the 15th, when the site can be slow.
  5. If you are upgraded in Round 2, you must take online relieving from your Round 1 seat and join the new one. You lose any claim on the Round 1 seat.

For parents

  • The deposit is now at risk. Under MCC's bulletin, the refundable security deposit for All India Quota seats is ₹25,000 for UR/EWS students and ₹10,000 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD students, plus a non-refundable fee of ₹1,000 or ₹500. For deemed universities, it is a ₹5,000 fee and a ₹2,00,000 deposit for every category. If a student is allotted a seat in Round 2 or later and does not join, MCC keeps the deposit.
  • Agree the choice list together. Talk through fees, city, hostel and branch before 15 November, so your child is not deciding alone at midnight.
  • Keep college fees ready. Tuition and hostel fees are paid to the college at reporting, separate from MCC's deposit. Deemed universities can ask for a large first instalment.
  • Know whether you will freeze or float. If your child is allotted a seat and accepts it as final ("freeze"), they must go to the college in person between 18 and 24 November, with original documents, so plan travel. If they want a chance at a better seat in Round 3 ("float"), MCC's bulletin says documents are verified online and no visit is needed for now.
  • Round 3 is final. A Round 3 seat cannot be resigned or upgraded once joined. Not joining one means losing the deposit and being dropped from later rounds.
  • One note. The bulletin on MCC's site is still marked as a draft. Check the site again before paying.
