This week in admissions, exams and study abroad – 2 to 8 November 2026
Published 08/11/2026

In short: Board exam families finally have dates to plan around, and doctors waiting for NEET PG Round 2 have a schedule. Abroad, the news this week was about the long term: how many years it takes to settle, and how many students a country will take. Between 9 and 22 November there are nine days with a form, a deadline or a result due.
India this week
- CBSE 2027 date sheet is out. Released on 6 November, it starts both Class 10 and Class 12 on 16 February 2027. Class 10 ends on 9 March and Class 12 on 9 April. Subject-wise dates.
- CBSE practicals start on Monday for winter-bound schools. They run from 9 November to 19 December; regular schools start on 1 January 2027. The one-week window to correct names, dates of birth and subjects closed on 7 November. Practicals · Corrections.
- NEET PG Round 2 has dates. MCC posted the schedule on 7 November, after new seats were added: register by 14 November, lock choices by 15 November, final result on 17 November. Leaving a Round 1 seat without losing the deposit is possible only till 9 November, 6 pm. What to do.
- CSIR NET got four more days, and no late fee. The form now closes at 11:50 pm on Monday, 9 November. Corrections run from 10 to 12 November. Details.
- Form mistakes can still be fixed. JEE Main 2027 candidates may fill a fresh form by 22 November (the first fee is not refunded), or wait for the 27 to 29 November correction window. UP Board schools can correct student details until 12 November. CLAT 2027 forms closed on 7 November; test city and key details can be changed until 10 November. JEE Main · UP Board.
Study abroad this week
- UK: settlement will usually take 10 years. On 2 November the Home Office confirmed that permanent residence (ILR) will normally take 10 years, not 5, with faster routes for high earners. Years on a Student or Graduate visa will not count. No start date yet. What it means.
- Canada: up to 1.5 lakh new students a year. The 2027 to 2029 levels plan, out on 5 November, sets a target of up to 150,000 new international students in each year, slightly fewer than 2026. Details.
- MBBS in Uzbekistan: a fresh government warning. On 3 November the Ministry of External Affairs asked families to read the official advisories and make sure the course meets NMC rules. Nothing is banned. What to check.
- US: internship rules for F-1 students are in court. Since August, US authorities count training as CPT only if every student in the programme must do it. University groups have challenged this; a hearing was set for 6 November and no decision had been announced by 8 November. What to ask a university.
- Australia: feedback on tougher money checks closes on 23 November. The Genuine Student and proof-of-funds changes are still only proposals. Details.

For students this week
- CSIR NET by Sunday night, not in Monday's last hours.
- Check before windows shut. CLAT test city by 10 November; ask your UP Board school to confirm your details by 12 November.
- Make a board revision plan now. Put the CBSE date sheet next to the JEE Main dates (20 to 28 January) and plan backwards.
- NEET PG doctors: decide about your Round 1 seat by 9 November, then fill choices carefully. From this round, a seat you don't join costs the deposit.
For parents this week
What to do now
- CSIR NET form by 9 Nov
- Check CLAT and UP Board details
- NEET PG: lock choices by 15 Nov
- NMMSS renewal by 15 Nov
- Pay only on official sites
- MBBS abroad: check NMC rules
- Scholarship money first. If your child holds an NMMSS award, make sure the renewal is done by 15 November and the school verifies it.
- Pay only on official sites. Every link in the table goes to an official page.
- MBBS abroad needs care. Before paying any fee for Uzbekistan or elsewhere, check the course against NMC's rules and the Indian embassy's advisories, not an agent's brochure.
- Think long term on the UK and Canada. If settling abroad is part of the plan, the UK's 10-year route changes the maths.
